Anne Frank Poem

I am a girl in a cluttered room.
Why so cluttered?</i>
Not by choice,
You have no choice?</i>
I was forced to hide here.
And nowhere else?</i>
I sleep,
Is it quiet?</i>
on a cold, hard floor.
Is it frightening?</i>
I’m stuck in a room,
Can you breathe?</i>
with grouchy old people.
Do you talk at all?</i>
All I have,
Who could ask for more?</i>
Is my trustful father and my journal.
Lonely?</i>
I do not like it here.
Why would you?</i>
In this small room,
There is no space?</i>
there is no privacy.
None?</i>
If I were to go on a walk,
Outdoors?</i>
I would be sentenced to death.
Immediately?</i>
I wouldn’t be able
Please come back?</i>
to go back home.
Why do you stay?</i>
They make me
Helplessly</i>
go to concentration camps.

Gone.</i>
this poem is based off of Aimee Punches's "Anne Frank Poem" in which she describes the life of Anne Frank and her life. we took the first lines for Anne Frank and were asked to write responses to them, either describing /our/ lives, or comment, or have a conversation with her or whatever we wanted. i decided to ask the "anne frank" questions in response, and came up with this!

originally, the format of the text was different.. and special. >3>
i had it set up where the space between each lines would gradually decrease, and the font would increase as it concluded.
